I had a look on your online demo of your translation, it looks quite good.
But I personally have not the time at the moment to take a look at the code, shame on me ..
I will take a look asap. Promised.

i fear your version is a bit buggy in one point ;)
if you try to access the help-pages (i think that was a main point of the translation ;)) the subpages don't appear.
do you have the register globals variable in your php.ini turned on or off?

Hi Dave
..got the copy, thx! I'll have a look right now and let you know how it works.
@Alle
Ich finde es gut was Dave hier macht, wenn man bedenkt welch Mühe das kostet! Vor allem für jemanden, der in der Tat kein Wort deutsch spricht und sich eines üblen Übersetzungstools betätigen muß. Daß das eine oder andere Bug auftaucht, ist nicht weiter tragisch. Ein Anfang ist aber gemacht.

...........................
I have made some changes......
there is now an option to select the language for either German or English If others wanted to translate the forum to more languages they can easily do so creating a folder tree
eg under languages-------->
(language)---------->
templates
mail
and editing the language.inc.php file and getting a language.gif flag yjere are a number included

yeah! great work!! :)
But the the top navigation ($options) is not translated in german?
And the table width's in the german index.php are bigger than those in the english version...
The icon's <td> is too large, the name <td> is to small, the thread <td> is as much width as the posting <td> and the last message <td> is larger than the name <td>... You know what i mean? :)
And a lil typo, in the german version: who is online -> "testsowie ein Gast" there is a space missing...
Great to see someone is looking, fixed

Thank-you
I have had a search for the reference to the style template but came up with nothing and so searched for <td width= settings in the html template files and then experimented with changes so i changed the first reference in main.html frim "1" to "40" and the "48" to "60" this was suitable for display in english and german
<td width="40" bgco......
<td bgcolor="........
<td width="60" bgcolor....
<td width="60" ........
<td bgcolor="$style[c..........
</tr>
$INDEXROWS
this appears to be a problem with original cell size creation in the html coded according to the text forcing the size and not being set from <td width=
MrNase Thank-you
dave
no problem :)

Forgot to say,
there is an present fully working version installed on the 10/03/03 at....
installed using the standard 2.8.1 installer on a
w2k
apache1.3.24
php4.3.0
mysql 3.23.49
I hope someone can make use of this translation!
How close are you guys to releasing a 2.9 beta RC1?
a reply would be nice :) :)
dave
not very close .. school, work, etc....
the version looks very nice fingers, the on-thefly-change is very important for me personally!
i just wonder, why the language choose-buttons are only on the mainpage? you could put them in the frame.html and create a redirection system like in the login.php...
another thing is a bit buggy translation:
" Sprache Satz oder von wählt"
is just an automatic translation of
" Language Set or choose from"
" gewählt, Wählen Sie ihre Sprache
@all
nice to get some input/feedback.
The reason for the BAD translation is that I dont read or understand
german at all, so the only way for me to do a translation from English to german is the online translators and i know from doing the german to english translation it is not gramaticall nor logically correct and has to be rewritten with an understanding of what was really meant in the original text, for me this is not possible going from english to german, this could also show up in many other places and if anyone finds the post them please.
